Meet the Senior Leadership Team at Brighton College Dubai

Mr. Marco Longmore
Mr Marco Longmore is the Founding Head Master of Brighton College Dubai. Marco is 48 years old and for the past nine years has been Rector of the Edinburgh Academy, one of Scotland’s leading HMC schools. He is married to Karen and they have two children. A Scot, Marco read History at Edinburgh before beginning his teaching career in 1991 at George Heriot’s School, becoming Head of History at George Watson’s College in 1998.
His next move was south, as Senior Deputy Head at Alleyn’s School in London, before returning to the Scottish capital in 2008 to lead the Academy. During the period of his headship, The Edinburgh Academy has grown to become one of Scotland’s most successful co-educational schools.
Mrs. Sarah Brannon
Brighton College Dubai is delighted to be able to welcome Sarah Brannon as Head of Preparatory School.
Sarah brings 25 years of international leadership school experience to her role spanning highly successful stints in British curriculum schools in Germany, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
Sarah says: “Being a part of the start-up of the third Brighton College in the UAE is both tremendously exciting and challenging. It is fantastic that we have the support and experience of our excellent sister schools in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to draw on. In addition, Brighton College Dubai will have its own unique nuances and character whilst offering an authentic representation of Brighton College education.”

Mr. Barry Cooper
Brighton College Dubai is delighted to announce the appointment of Barry Cooper as Deputy Head Academic.
Barry comes to Dubai after three years at Wellington College Shanghai, following a successful career at leading British boarding schools Loretto and Epsom College. He brings a breadth of experience in senior roles, including Director of Studies, Director of Marketing and Admissions, Housemaster and Head of Department. He is a History specialist and has also taught English, Politics, Classics and Philosophy. His position as Deputy Head Academic is a wide-ranging role, but in the first years it will mainly focus on the academic leadership of the school.
Barry was educated at Dartford Grammar School in the UK, going on to read History at St Andrews, followed by a Master’s degree from the University of Stirling. He is moving to Dubai with his wife, Hilary, (a marketing consultant) and their young son. Both Barry and Hilary are passionate about travel, art, language and history, and are looking forward immensely to joining the community at Brighton College Dubai.
Mr. Joe Donaghey
Brighton College Dubai is delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Donaghey as Assistant Head (Lower School).
Joe brings a wealth of professional experience in Dubai to Brighton College. He has worked as a senior leader in a local school that has achieved ‘Outstanding’ in annual KHDA inspections since its inception.
Having previously gone through the process of opening a new school in Dubai, Joe is excited about the process of creating a culture of learning and achievement centered around the individual. With a background in Computer Engineering, Joe has a keen interest in fully utilising technology in order to enable creativity and facilitate innovation and critical thinking.
Mrs. Clare Leask
Brighton College Dubai is delighted to announce the appointment of Clare Leask as Head of Early Years.
Clare brings a wealth of experience, having led teams both in the UK and internationally. Starting her teaching career in South East London, she spent five years in an outstanding school. From there, Clare moved to the British School Jakarta, Shrewsbury International School, Bangkok, and most recently has been part of the start-up team at Brighton College Bangkok.
Clare explains that: “After eight wonderful years in South East Asia, my family and I are extremely excited to move to the UAE and to be joining Brighton College Dubai. I am looking forward to my role as Head of Early Years and developing a truly outstanding learning environment. Teaching children in the Early Years is where my passion lies – in particular, creating an enabling and nurturing environment where children can develop a love of learning through innovative and creative activities planned from the interests and curiosities of the individual child. I am very much looking forward to meeting the new families who will be joining Brighton College Dubai.”
