We prepare our pupils to become critical thinkers, problem solvers and young entrepreneurs. Through instilling both practical and creative skills in a variety of materials and technologies, we encourage and support a range of artistic ambitions.
The performing arts, such as music, drama and dance, provide a wonderful opportunity to develop their skills outside of the classroom, grow in confidence and learn to express themselves thoughtfully and creatively.
Art
The Art department is a lively and dynamic space, where pupils can develop their creativity using a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, digital art, installation and printmaking, as well as written explorations of ideas and critical thinking. We put emphasis on contemporary practice and theories that inform art, as well as practical skills. Alongside regular visits from artists, there are also specialist workshops and gallery trips throughout the year.
Design and Technology
Design and technology focuses on the origin and quality of ideas, paying attention to functionality, aesthetics, user needs and sustainability. This enables pupils to create highly developed products that are market-ready.
Photography
Photography allows pupils to develop a critical understanding of the works of significant artists and photographers and refine their skill sets. Our pupils go through a journey of exploration, investigating all aspects of capturing an image, from analogue dark room through to digital cinematography, collage through to Photoshop, and all that lies inbetween. Pupils come away with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject, alongside the ability to capture sublime imagery.
Drama
At Brighton College Dubai, Drama builds personal confidence and empowers pupils to explore their creativity. In addition to the GCSE and A level courses, we stage two major performances per year and we LAMDA lessons (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts), meaning that any pupil can participate in drama, even if they are not pursuing it as an academic option. Our specialist Drama lessons start as early as Year 1.
Music
Music is a cornerstone of the Brighton College experience, offering a rich and inclusive environment for pupils to develop their musical talents. Pupils participate in concerts, musical shows, House competitions, and workshops with support from experienced teachers. Our comprehensive music programme fosters a deep sense of community while nurturing not only musical skill and ability, but also confidence and collaboration.
